Welcome to the memorial page for

Alma (Wagner) Hardy

March 16, 1926 ~ November 10, 2015 (age 89) 89 Years Old

The beloved Alma Wagner Hardy, 89, of 1833 Blair Loop Road, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at Danville Regional Medical Center.  She was born on March 16, 1926 in Danville, VA to the late George B. Wagner and the late May Austin Wagner.  Alma was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church for 53 years.  She was very active in the church and served on various committees, enjoyed being a youth choir director, was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, and a joyful choir member.  Alma loved her church and felt that the Friendship Sunday School Class was like family.  She knew in her heart that her late husband of 62 years, Bill, was a gift from God.  Alma constantly shared with her three children how blessed she was to be loved by them.  Her greatest joy was to put others and their needs before her own; this was felt by all who met her.  Being a generous soul, it was common knowledge that she was very organized and loved to keep things tidy.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Oscar Hardy, her sister, Doris Burgess and her brother, George B. Wagner III.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Dianne Weatherford, and husband, David of Danville, Kathy Metzer and husband, Tim of Browns Summit, NC, son, Billy Hardy and wife Joy of Danville, “special daughter”, Cynthia Kiger of Danville. Also, eight grandchildren, Adam and Amanda, Ashley “Bean” and Kittie, Tricia and Brent, Jeffrey and Elle, Michael and Emily, Randall and Ashley, Jessica and Barry, Will and Chelsey, step-grandchildren, Tim and Cheyenne, and Courtney, six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Natalie, Macy, Thomas, Elliot and Madelyn, and a seventh great-grandchild expected in December, Hudson.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 5:00 – 7: 00 in the evening at Fairview United Methodist Church and other times at the home.  A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 4:00 in the afternoon at Fairview United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathleen Monge and Rev. Linwood Cook officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alma’s honor to Fairview United Methodist Friendship Class, 1013 Westover Dr, Danville, VA 24541 or House of Hope, 206 S Ridge St, Danville, VA 24541.
