Bernice Hall Jennings, age 93, of Danville, Virginia, died on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Roman Eagle Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Jennings was born on May 13, 1923, in Gladys, Va., a daughter of the late Samuel Tyler Hall and Mary Frances Dowdy Hall. For 51 years, she was married to Charlie Thomas Jennings who preceded her in death. Her career started at the John W Daniel Company and ended at the age of 85 after spending many years as Administrator of Roman Eagle Health and Rehab Center and manager of Hilltop Gardens. Mrs. Jennings, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was a member of Afton Road Primitive Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jennings is survived by three children, Don Jennings (Sharon) of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Bill Jennings (Chris) of Richmond, Va., and Kathy Emerson (Junior) of Danville, Va.; five grandchildren, Rodney Larch (Kathy), Meredith Rooney (Thomas), Sarah Jennings , Edward Emerson (Lesley), and Charly Harris (Brandon); three great grandchildren, Thomas Larch, Emme Harris, and Edward Emerson, Jr.; sister, Virginia Mason; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hall, Letricia Hall, Etta Jennings, and Hattie Graham. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Hubert, Sam, Elbert, and Robert Hall; and her in-laws, Elva Hall, Clarie Jennings, Matthew Jennings (Pattie), Robert Jennings (Janet), Margaret Lunsford (Harvey), and Hoyt Graham.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Afton Road Primitive Baptist Church with the Elder Dan Parker officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, April 14, 2017, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in Highland Burial Park.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the administration and staff of Brookdale-Piedmont and Roman Eagle Health and Rehab for the loving care provided over the last several years.
