Betty Rudder, a long-time resident of the Danville area, received her angel wings on Friday, December 30th at her daughter, Carla’s residence. She went peacefully in her sleep.

She was the beloved wife of her predeceased husband, Miles T. Rudder, of 56 years. Her greatest joys in life were traveling with her husband who was a member of the United States Air Force and raising her three beautiful daughters.

She is survived by her four sisters and one brother; Jerry Crider, of Danville, Nancy McGuire of Danville, Ann Smith of Ringgold, Troy Haymore of Pelham, NC; and Verna Thompson of South Carolina. Also, she is survived by her three daughters, Theresa and Tommy Adams; Carla and Joe Keen; and Cynthia and Steven Ross; her nine blessed and beloved grandchildren; Clarissa, Miles, Shane, Dwayne, Kahley, Betti Liegh, Leanna, Kathryn, and Jessie; and nine wonderful great-grandchildren; Isah, Neimah, Jaylin, Mason, Madison, Lexi, Sadie, Alora, and Lucas.

The family would like to extend a special recognition to her closest friends Roy, Suzie, Katie, and Janie.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 02, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 03, 2017 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Rudder’s daughter, Carla Keen has opened her home for family and friends who wish to pay their respects, 1829 Twin Arch Dr. Danville, VA.
