Bobby Eugene Bentley

Mr. Bobby Eugene Bentley died Tuesday, April 03, 2018 at SOVAH Health after being in declining health for seven years. He was born on May 19, 1939, to the late Daisy Rosa Lamb Bentley and Rowland Shelley Bentley.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Shepherd Rowland Bentley (2010) and adopted son, Johnny Mark Bentley (2013), and his first wife Brenda Watkins Bentley (1992).

He is survived by his loving wife, Francine H. Bentley, and by two daughters, Michele Gail Marshall (Daryl) of Colonial Beach, VA and Christina Marie Callaway. The delight of his life was the birth of his granddaughter Brindall Ranada Callaway.

Bob retired from the U.S. Navy after 23 years of service, enlisting after high school at the age of 18. His service included the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was stationed all around the world including Alaska, Japan, and Panama. He graduated from Danville Community College with a degree in Business. He spent the next 20 years with the City of Danville, Director of Operations at the Waste Water Treatment Plant. After his retirement with the City he then went to work with the Danville Regional Medical Center as a Security Guard. He retired after 12 years of service.

He was a lifetime member of Stokesland Baptist Church and was baptized at the age of 9. He served as a Deacon, various committees and Sunday school teacher for the men’s class for 30 years.

Graveside services will be held at Highland Burial Park at 4 PM on Friday, April 6, 2018 with the Reverend Chuck Vickers officiating, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 1097. The family will be at the residence at 554 Arlington Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Danville Humane Society, 996 S Boston Rd, Danville, VA 24540.
