Bobby Vinton Moore, 81, of Sutherlin, VA departed this earth after two months of declining health on May 30, 2016 and went to be with his Lord and Savior in his heavenly home.

Born in Washington County, in Meadowview, Virginia, he was the son of the late Dixie Belle Gregory and Dave Ritchie Moore. Also, Bobby was predeceased by one brother Dave “Buck” Moore.

Bobby lived most of his life in the Danville/Sutherlin area. He was employed as a foreman at RC Cola until the doors closed. Bobby also was a security guard at P. Lorillard and worked also at the local S.O. until retiring from RTP in South Boston, VA.

On October 4, 1958 Bobby married the love of his life, Helen Marlene Moore, of the residence. The two enjoyed a wonderful 57 years of marriage. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Melinda Snow and husband Dale, and Mary Francis, both of Sutherlin, VA; and one son, Bobby Moore, Jr. and wife Stephanie, of Conyers, GA.

Four grandchildren, Cristy Ellis, Neal Francis and wife Virginia, Brian Francis and Kathryn Moore; one great-granddaughter, Christen Williamson; and two special fur-babies of the residence, “Molly and Teddy Moore”.

Bobby was a devoted attendee of Rocksprings United Methodist Church where he was an active member of the Choir. Bobby enjoyed fishing, watching the Nascar races, gardening and tinkering on projects around the house. He also enjoyed when family got together to eat around the supper table.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Rocksprings United Methodist Church Building fund. The family would also like to thank Legacy Hospice, American Cancer Society, Danville Oncology, and Danville Regional ER, and the 2nd floor doctors and nurses for the excellent care and support shown to our family during this time.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 3, 2016 at Swicegood Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Pastor Steven Weedling officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Swicegood Funeral Home at 6 pm until 7:30 pm. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA.
