Mrs. Clara Sue Brooks, age 80, of 324 Searcy St., Danville, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at her residence.

She was born on May 11, 1936, in Abington, VA, to the late John Shepherd and Nellie Gill Shepherd.

Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker and was of the Independent Baptist faith.

She is survived by her loving husband, Claude “Mickey” Brooks, of the residence; her daughter, Donna Hartis, of Danville; son, Claude M. Brooks, Jr. of Danville; brother, Richard Shepherd of Danville; seven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Brooks was predeceased by her daughters, Pamela Carter and Sharon Brooks, as well as two sisters and seven brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Blevins officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 324 Searcy St., Danville, VA. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park, in Danville, VA.
