Doris Moore Booth, age 96, of 204 North Avenue, Danville, entered her heavenly home on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born in Pittsylvania County on January 29, 1920, the daughter of the late Harvey Moore and Gillie Adkins Moore. She was married to Joseph Booth. Jr. who also predeceased her. In addition she was predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn Oakes Russell; two sisters, Hattie M. Myers and Frances Moore Farris Farthing; three brothers, Billy Moore, Otey Moore, and Archie Moore; and half-brother, Sandy Adkins.
Mrs. Booth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved her friends and family and she loved working in her garden and yard. Mrs. Booth was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church and had worked as a warper for Dan River, Inc.
She is survived by a granddaughter, Christy Russell McBride (Michael) of Danville; a grandson, Joseph Russell (Sandy) of Houston, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Corey McBride (Becky), Kirsten McBride, Thomas Russell (Rachel) of Stafford, Texas, Brandi Russell of San Antonio, Texas, Dakota McBride, and Trinity Russell of Houston, Texas; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaylin Alderson, and A. J. Alderson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Highland Burial Park with the Reverend Walter Yancey officiating. The family will receive friends at Barker Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 14, 2016, from 7 until 8:30 p.m. At other times the family will be at the residence, 204 North Avenue, Danville.
