On August 16, 2015, Edward Eanes left us to go upstairs to be with his Lord and Savior and family and friends. Born June 20th, 1928, to Louise Eanes, he was shortly thereafter adopted by Daniel and Blanch Meadows. He volunteered in WWII and was part of the Army Air Corps. On leaving the service, he married Hazel Cordill.
At the time of his death, he was a member of the American Legion and a member of Ferry Road Friends Church.
He was a supervisor in Dan River Mills and later became known to many as the "Sewing Machine Man", first as the top salesman in the region for Singer Sewing Machine Co., and later as owner and operator of Eanes Sewing Center. He was an avid golfer, enjoying the rare distinction of six holes-in-one.
He is survivced by his wife and their children, Kaye Vass, Rick Eanes and Ravanell Coyle. He also leaves two son-in-laws, Doug Vass and John Coyle, and daughter-in-law, Martha Eanes. He is also survived by grandchildren, Jillian Broome and her husband, Ryan Broome, Jonathan Edward Coyle and Kimberly Rushing and great-grandchildren Matthew and Aleah Rushing.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 20th, at The Swicegood Funeral Home at 1:00, followed by the funeral at 2:00. Interment will follow at the Highlands Burial Park.
