Elizabeth Alice Heffinger, age 84, of 39 Holcomb St. Danville, VA, died on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Riverside Health and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Heffinger was born on September 24, 1932 in Chatham, VA, a daughter of the late Charlie Anderson and Lena Lewis Anderson. She lived most of her life in Danville, VA where she was previously employed with Woolworths and later retired from Virginia Bank and Trust. She was married to Robert Lee Heffinger for 50 years and was a member of Stokesland United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Heffinger is survived by her grandsons, Truce Gaither (Tasha), Seth Apple (Rebecca) and Robert Apple (Victoria); seven great grandsons; five great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Jim.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by daughter, Cherry Wilson Apple; and granddaughter, Angie Gaither Coleman; seven brothers, Otis, Harry, Gilbert, Howard, Roy, Algie and Raymond Anderson; five sisters, Annie Mae Redd, Mildred Boles, Clara Moser, Pattie Haskins, and Jeanette Brown.
She was a kind, gentle, and determined spirit who loved Jesus and loved others constantly. She never met a person she didn’t try to help and love. Her entire life was spent trying to make life better for all around her, always with a smile on her face- full of joy. Her main passion was Jesus and she used her many talents, time, and treasure to encourage everyone that Jesus is the only everlasting answer.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery on Chalk Level Road with Dr. Charles Scearce officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon May 7, 2017 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. A chapel service will follow the visitation
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice, or preform an act of kindness like she would.
