Elizabeth Barksdale Martin of Halifax, VA passed away February 5, 2017 at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Halifax County, VA on August 15, 1930 and was 86 years old.

She was the daughter of the late Charlie B. Barksdale and the late Susie Moore Barksdale. She was married to the late Marshall E. Martin and was of the Baptist Faith.

Elizabeth B. Martin is survived by: two daughters, Joan Hudgins of South Boston, VA, and Joyce M. King of Alton, VA; one brother, Dudley B. Barksdale of South Boston, VA; one sister, Hilda B. Martin of Dallas, NC; two grandchildren, Paul E. Quick and Brian Coon; two Great-grandchildren, Joshua and Samantha Quick.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Martin was predeceased by her husband, Marshall E. Martin; one grandson, Mickey Hawker; one son-in-law, Wayne King; two sisters, Virginia B. Clark, and Bertha B. Landrum.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 3:00 PM at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Burial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 9, 2017 one hour prior to the service at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Joyce King at 1113 Paradise Rd., Alton, VA.
