Gene Frederick Hill, age 78, of 339 Cedarbrook Dr., Danville, VA, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Danville Regional Medical Center.

He was born on March 24, 1938, in Leaksville, NC, to the late Charlie Boaz Hill Sr. and Ruby Frederick Hill.

Mr. Hill worked at Goodyear before his retirement and was a member of Westover Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He is survived by his sons, Earl Guilliams Jr. and wife Dianne and Gene Hill II all of Danville, VA; daughters, Teresa Beach and husband David of Danville, VA and Patti Bennett and husband Jim of Greenville, NC; sister, Leona Blankenship of Marion, VA; brothers, Donald Hill of Danville, VA and Robert Hill of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Mr. Hill was predeceased by his wife Juanita Simms Hill; and brothers, Charlie Hill Jr. and Raymond Hill.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Dr. Doug Barber and Rev. Robert Vermillion officiating. Visitation will be held 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. At other times, the family will be at the home of Donald Hill, 140 Grandimere Dr., Danville, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541.
