Herman Price, 90, of Danville went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.  He was born on July 18, 1924 to the late Henry and Margie Price.  Mr. Price lived his entire life in the home he grew up in.  Herman was a diligent worker for Dan River Mills all of his adult life; with time out to serve his country in the United States Army during World War II.  He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved his Young At Heart Group.  He often baked cakes for their monthly socials and was lovingly called “Cake Man” by many of his peers.  Herman loved gardening and was an avid baseball fan.  Along with his parents he is preceded in death by three siblings, Joyce Pembelton, Norval Price and Estelle Kendrick.

Mr. Price is survived by his son, David R. Price of Durham, NC and his daughter, Nancye P. Funai of Durham, NC; two granddaughters, Tracey Nicole Funai and Brandey Funai Downs.  He was also blessed with one great-grandson, Logan William Downs.  He leaves behind three brothers, Clifford L. Price of Danville, Aubrey J. Price of Danville and Norman H. Price of Richmond.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2015 in the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Markham officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.
