Mr. Horton Langston “Sleepy” Pribble, age 91, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at his daughter’s residence.

He was born on August 13, 1925, in Pittsylvania County, VA, to the late Horton Bolton Pribble and Mary Strader Pribble. He was the widower of Juanita Scearce Pribble.

Mr. Pribble worked at Dan River Inc. before his retirement and enjoyed visiting the textile mill sites around Spartanburg. He was a member of Brosville United Methodist Church before moving to Spartanburg, SC in 2013. After moving to Spartanburg, he became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. Mr. Pribble was a veteran of the United States Army in the 15th Calvary, 5th squadron.

He is survived by his daughter, Shelia Middlebrooks, husband Jacky, grandson Drew Horton Middlebrooks of Spartanburg, SC; and son, Gary Lee Pribble and wife Carol of Danville, VA; 

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Swicegood Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the funeral home from 6:00 p .m. until 7:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
