Huston Waverly Cook, age 90, of 142 Imperial Rd., Pelham, NC, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Brian Center-Yanceyville.

He was born on January 02, 1925, in Rockingham, NC, to the late Willie Cook and Lou Durham Cook.

Mr. Cook worked in the weaving department at Dan River Mills. He lived most of his life in the Pelham Community. Mr. Cook was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a true outdoors man.

He is survived by sons, Steven W. Cook (Sherry) and Leonard D. Cook all of Pelham; daughters, Rachel C Mathews (Darrell) of Henry County, VA and Retha C. Mabe (Charles) of Lexington, NC; brother, Wayne Cook of Pelham; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ezetta Furr.

In addition to his parents Mr. Cook was predeceased by his wife Nancy Jolly Cook; brothers, Edgar Cook and Gilbert G. Cook; and sisters, Hazel Pruitt, Nancy Travis, Stella Harold, Ila C. Pruitt and Pearl Cook..

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Kent officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015. At other times, the family will be at 118 Imperial Rd, Pelham, NC. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
