James Edward “Skip” Eanes, Sr., age 91, of 156 Forestdale Dr., Danville, VA, died on Thursday, May 02, 2013 at Riverside Health Care.

He was born on October 20, 1921, in Franklin County, VA, to the late George and Rosa Eanes.
Mr. Eanes worked in maintenance at Dan River, Inc. before his retirement, and he was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by five daughters: Mary Jane Dobmeier and Carnell Jones, both of Danville, VA; Glenda Bowen and husband Dennis, of Fletcher, NC; Ruth Ann Soyars, of Danville, VA; and Janice Heywood and husband Seth, of Chester, VA; one son: James E. Eanes, Jr. and wife Betty, of Axton, VA; twelve grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren; and sister: Algie Phelps, of Danville, VA.

In addition to his parents Mr. Eanes was predeceased by his wife Clarice Elva Quarles Eanes; eight brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday, May 04, 2013 in Highland Burial Park with Rev. David Hatcher officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 until 7:30 pm on Friday, May 03, 2013 at Swicegood Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of his daughter Mary Jane Dobmeier, 130 West Witt Rd, Danville, VA.
