Jimmy Ray Dixon, age 83, of 881 Inman Rd., Danville, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on October 29, 1933, in Danville, VA, to the late Martin Irvin Dixon Sr. and Verna Freeman Dixon.

Mr. Dixon was a graduate of Brosville High School and Virginia Technical Institute. He was an owner/operator of serval contractor businesses until his retirement and was of the Christian faith. Mr. Dixon was a veteran of the United States Air Force with the 32nd Air Command.

He is survived by his daughters: Jenny Hyler, Cindy Taylor, Pam Terry, all of Danville, VA, and Stacey Dixon, of Dry Fork, VA; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and former wife and mother of his daughters, Hazel Dixon; siblings: Alees Robinson, Glen Dixon, Sr., Nancy Moore, and Martin Dixon, Jr., all of Danville, VA.

In addition to his parents Mr. Dixon was predeceased by his brother, Otis Dixon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Swicegood Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 881 Inman Rd., Danville, VA. Interment will follow in Dixon Family Cemetery on Inman Rd.
