John Junior Keen, formerly of Applewood Drive, Danville, VA, was born on May 15, 1926 in Gretna, VA, to John and Gracie Keen.

He departed this world on January, 15, 2018 at SOVAH Medical Center surrounded by his family. He married Helen Scott Keen on September 15, 1950 and faithfully took care of her when she became ill until her death in 2012. John was a member of Stokesland Baptist Church and loved his Sunday School Class and attended faithfully as long as he could. He proudly served in the US Navy during World War II and worked in construction all of his life.

John is survived by a daughter, Beverly Keen Moore and her husband Dennis; two step-daughters, Joyce Allen Roach and Nancy Allen Adkins; six grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Pate Keen and Oadie Keen and his wife, Jeanie.

John was predeceased by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Virginia Keen and Wade Barbour; and five brothers, Thomas, Clarence, Berkley, Russell, and Anderson.

A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Mountain View Cemetery with the Reverend Austin Merricks officiating with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 1097. The family will receive friends on Thursday before the graveside from 12:00 until 1:30 PM at Swicegood Funeral Home.
