Joseph Beamon Sr., age 73, of 1244 Westover Dr., Danville, VA, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on October 22, 1942, in Danville, VA, to the late Charles Dewey Beamon and Ida Willis Beamon.

Mr. Beamon worked as an automotive service manager and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Mr. Beamon was a well-known classic car collector.

He is survived by his sons, Joseph Wayne Beamon Jr. and fiancée Tracey and Gary Wayne Beamon all of Danville, VA; grandson, Alex Beamon; brother, Frank Beamon and wife Linda; sister-in-law, Will Rae “Bunk” Beamon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Mr. Beamon was predeceased by his wife Peggy Childress Beamon; brothers, Charlie Jr., Raymond, and Paul Beamon; and sister, Francis Thompson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Danville Memorial Gardens with Rev. Billy Scearce officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 6:00 until 7:30 p .m. at Swicegood Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 1244 Westover Dr. Danville, VA.

Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 1097.
