Joseph Philip Levy, age 94, formerly of 1008 Foster Rd., Alton, VA, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Riverside Health Care Center. The family wishes to express their grateful appreciation for the loving care given to him while he was a resident there.

He was born on September 08, 1920, in New York City, NY, to the late David Levy and Elizabeth Franklin Levy.

Mr. Levy worked as a supervisor for the United States Navy. He spent most of his life in Virginia in Newport News, Hampton, and Calvary community areas. Mr. Levy was a veteran of the United States Army where he served for 4 and half years. Also, he was a member of the American Legion Post 325, Loyal Order of Moose Newport News Lodge 1119, and Good Sam Camping.

He is survived by sons, David Levy of Alexandria, VA, Mark Levy (Cathy) and Richard Levy all of Hampton, VA; daughter, Stephanie Ellis (John) of Williamsburg, VA; five grandchildren; step-sons, Michael Annett (Chris) of Norfork, VA and Patrick Annett (Peggy) of West Chicago, IL; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents Mr. Levy was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Levy; son, Paul Levy, and step-son, David Annett.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Calvary United Methodist Church in Alton, VA with Rev. Ralph K. Hawkins officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Levy’s children would like to express their grateful thanks and appreciation for all the trips to doctors, visits to Riverside, and blessings that Willie and Joyce Motley have provided for their dad and mother over the past 3 years. Willie and Joyce have been wonderful “caregivers” to us because of our distance from Danville.
