Mrs. Louise Carolyn Hazelwood Smith, age 76, of 1939 Gravel Hill Rd., Cascade, VA, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Smith was born on March 30, 1941, in Pelham, NC, to the late Emmett M. Hazelwood and Opie Grace Mitchell Hazelwood.

Mrs. Smith worked at Rockingham County school system as a cafeteria manager and was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughters, Teresa Carolyn Pruitt (Alan) of Pelham, NC and Tina Louise Gatewood (Bobby) of Chatham, VA; sister, Ann Motley of Eden, NC; brothers, Bob Hazelwood of Alton, Moyer Hazelwood, Jr. of Cascade, Clyde Lee Hazelwood of Reidsville, NC, and Jerry Hazelwood of Danville, VA; four grandchildren, Justin Pruitt, Amanda Motley, Willow Gatewood, and Skye Gatewood; also one great-grandchild, Nora Renee Pruitt.

 In addition to her parents Mrs. Smith was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles W. Smith and one sister, Betty Hazelwood.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11a.m. at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church in Ruffin, NC with the Reverend Larry Durham officiating. The family will receive friends at the home, 1939 Gravel Hill Rd., Cascade, VA.
