Mr. Marion Setliff, age 86, of 462 Cedarbrook Drive, Danville, VA, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Setliff was born on May 3, 1930 in Lunenburg County, VA, to the late Robert Lee Setliff and Beulah Dix Setliff. He lived most of his life in Danville, VA.

Mr. Setliff was employed by the Danville Police Department for 30 years before retiring as Major. He was a member of Forest Lawn Baptist Church. Also, he was a member of American Legion Dan River Post 1097 and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Korea.

Mr. Setliff first married the former Patsy Dallas who predeceased him. He later married the former Gaynelle Setliff who survives him.

Mr. Setliff is survived by his daughter, Sandy Setliff Collins of Danville, VA; sister, Dorothy Setliff Keslar of Colonial Heights, VA; brother, Decatur Setliff of Sutherlin, VA; two grandchildren, Ashley Collins and Andrew Collins; two step-daughters, Pamela S. Patterson and Donna S. Comper; three step-grandchildren, Jacob Patterson, Ryan Comper, and Emily Comper.

In addition to his parents Mr. Setliff was predeceased by sister, Vivian Setliff Ryan; and brother, Archie Setliff.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 24, 2017 at 2pm at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Reverend Daryl Joyce and the Reverend Austin Merricks officiating. The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence, 462 Cedarbrook Drive, Danville, VA 24541. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to DAV (Disabled American Veterans), VA Roanoke DAV, 210 Franklin Rd, SW RM 808, Roanoke, VA 24011 – 2209, or the Danville humane society.
