Mark W. Scearce, age 60, of 359 Hoskins Rd., Pelham, NC, went to be with his heavenly father on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Moses Cone Hospital, in Greensboro, NC.

He was born on March 26, 1957, in Danville, VA, to the late Lester “Buck” Scearce and Hazel Spivey Scearce. Mr. Scearce was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Before his retirement due to illness, Mr. Scearce worked as a well driller and was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Scearce, of the residence; children, Randall L. Scearce and his wife Bree, of Chatham, VA, Anthony W. Scearce and wife Jordan, and Kelly H. Scearce and her husband Duran, all of Pelham, NC; grandchildren, Rylan, Isolde, Levi, and Elijah; sister, Joan Leonard; niece, Doris Hayden; very special friend, Alfred Gray; and his canine companions, Teddy and Princess.

In addition to his parents Mr. Scearce was predeceased by his sister, Joyce Smith.

Due to inclement weather, the celebration of Mr. Scearce’s life will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 instead of Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at State Line Baptist Church with viewing from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and a service to follow. Rev. Austin Merricks, Rev. Steve Zimmerman, Rev. Adam Cook, and Rev. Wayne Wallace will be officiating the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mr. Scearce’s father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Brenda Hoskins, 198 Arch Cook Rd., Pelham, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House.
