Mrs. Mary Lou Day Harris, age 88, of 920 Walters Mill Road, Providence, NC, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Danville Regional Medical Center, after six months of declining health.

She was born on October 3, 1928, in Caswell County, NC, to the late Frank Day and Esther Swanson Day.

Mrs. Harris lived a long and happy life as a wonderful mother and grandmother and was of the Christian faith.

She is survived by her daughter, Esther Mitchell of Providence, NC; grandchildren, Melissa McCormick (Ronald) of Danville, VA, Jason Mitchell of Providence, NC; great-grandchildren, Zachary Crews, Caleb McCormick, and Joshua McCormick, all of Danville, VA.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Harris was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond Clarence Harris; seven brothers, Otis, Dudley, George, Eule, Eunice, Edmond, and Dollie; three sisters, Polly, Elizabeth, and Frances.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, January 05, 2017 at Mountain View Cemetery at 2 pm with Rev. Gilmore Hundley officiating. The family will be at the residence of Melissa McCormick, 1816 John Drive, Danville, VA 24540
