Mary Ann Barber Shepherd, age 72 of Danville, entered the gates of Heaven on Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Brian Center in Yanceyville, NC.

She was born on September 15, 1943 in Caswell County , NC to the late Samuel Woodrow Barber and Mary Jo Cayton Barber.

Mrs. Shepherd was a homemaker and a member of North Danville Church of Christ. She married the love of her life on February 03, 1959, Earl Wayne Shepherd Sr.

She is survived by her daughters, Julie Shepherd Watlington and husband Danny of Danville, VA, and Christine Shepherd Crider and husband Steve of Halifax, VA; sons, Earl Wayne Shepherd Jr. and wife Diane and William Edward Shepherd all of Danville, VA; Tony Shepherd of Sutherlin, VA and Matthew Shepherd and fiancée Jessica Worsham of Blairs, VA; adopted daughter, Vicky Dawson of Dry Fork; Sister Diann Barber Carter of Pelham, NC; brother, Charles Robert Barber of Oklahoma City, OK; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Shepherd was predeceased by          daughters, Suzette Shepherd and Hope Shepherd; and son, Randy Shepherd.

A celebration of Mrs. Shepherd’s life will be held on Thursday, September 01, 2016 from 7:00 p.m.                                                                                     until 9:00 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home with Minister Hershel Stone officiating. V20isitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her daughter Julie Watlington, 570 Elizabeth St., Danville, VA.
