Mr. J. Edward Dooley, age 91, of Brookview Rd, Danville, VA, died on November 7, 2017 at Bright Leaf Place.

Mr. Dooley was born on January 16, 1926, in Pittsylvania County, VA, a son of the late William Thomas Dooley and Tabitha Mitchell Dooley. He grew up in Schoolfield and lived all of his life in Danville, VA, where he retired from USPS after thirty years as a mail carrier. Mr. Dooley served in the US Navy during World War II from 1944-1946. In 1945, he married Lillie Murphy Dooley who preceded him in death on August 20, 2013. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church.

Mr. Dooley is survived by a son, Richard Wayne Dooley (Linda) of Florida; and his longtime friends and caregivers, Pam and Jim Dooley.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, Carson Dooley, Eugene Dooley, and William Thomas Dooley, Jr.; and one sister, Gladys Walton.

A Graveside Service will be conducted on Friday, November 10, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Highland Burial Park with the Reverend Jennifer Coffee officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fairview United Methodist Church, 1013 Westover Drive, Danville, VA, or to Danville Life Saving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA.
