Patrick Henry Griffin of 424 New Walters Mill Road went to meet his Lord on Monday, August 6, 2012 at his residence.  Born in Pittsylvania County on May 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Robert Franklin Griffin and Lucy Ann Williams Griffin.  On June 16, 1951 he married the love of his life, Ruby Pickeral Griffin, who survives him of the home.  He was a Coperal in the US Army ; a member of The American Legion Dan River Post 1097, and had worked as a dolpher for Dan River, Inc.  He was of Non-Denominational faith.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Peggy Daniel of Pelham.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters.  Other survivors include a very special niece, Linda Pickeral Crowder (husband Rev. Clark Crowder) whom he loved like a daughter.  Also, a dear niece, Debbie Amburn (husband Rick);  also a very special nephew Lefty Pickeral and a number of other nieces and nephews.  He leaves a tremendous void which will be difficult to fill.

Funeral services for Mr. Griffin will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Pickeral officiating.  Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park with military honors given by the Amercian Legion Dan River Post 1097 Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at  Barker Funeral Home Chapel.
