Mr. Raymond Franklin “PaPa” Johns, age 69, of 186 Alpine Drive, Danville, VA, died on May 13, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Johns was born on June 18, 1946, in Danville, Virginia, to the late Thomas Johns and Ennis Johns.

He worked as a welder doing construction and was of the Baptist faith. He spent 6 years in the Army National Guard.

Mr. Johns is survived by his wife, Barbara Crowell Johns, of the home; sons, Vincent Ray Johns and his wife Tammy of Albemarle, NC, Shane Franklin Johns and his wife Deborah of Kannapolis, NC; daughter, Laura Catherine Boyd and her husband Michael of Danville; sisters, Joyce Harris of Danville and Luleen White of Staunton; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Blake, Brantley, Brandy, Krystal, Robert, Wesley, and Ross; one great-grandchild, Payton.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel at 2 pm with Rev. Helen McKee officiating. Visitation will be held Monday night, May 16, 2016 at 7:00pm until 8:30 pm. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, Virginia. The family will receive friends and family at 186 Alpine Drive, Danville, VA at other times.
