Richard Anderson Thompson, Sr., age 87, of 392 Stony Mill Road, Danville, died on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Riverside Health Care.  Born in Danville on December 12, 1927, he was the son of the late Doctor Anderson Thompson and Ora Currie Thompson.   He had served his country well in the US Army during World War II.  He had been a logger for over 30 years and retired from Goodyear as a mechanic. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Nellie Hardy Thompson.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his sons, Richard Thompson, Jr. and wife Cheryl, Kenneth Wayne Thompson and wife Sherry, Floyd Howard Thompson and wife Karen, and Charles Tracy Thompson. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Stephen Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Justin Thompson, Caleb Thompson, and Rachel Morris; four Great- Grandsons and his brother, Danny Thompson.

Funeral services for Mr. Thompson will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lee Ellison and the Rev. Mike Harp officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in Barker Funeral Home Chapel and other times at the home. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park Barker Funeral Home is respectfully serving the Thompson family.
