Mr. Roger Dale Testerman, age 69, of 2500 Double Creek Road, Sutherlin, VA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 30, 2016 at his home.

He was born on September 11, 1946, in Danville, Virginia, to the late Charles Edgar Testerman and Audrey Hawker Testerman.

Mr. Testerman served his county in the United States Army, where he served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was ranked as an SP5 during his military career. Upon returning home from the military, he obtained a degree in LPN nursing.  After receiving his nursing degree, Mr. Testerman worked in the ER at the Martinsville Hospital. In addition to being an LPN, he was a truck driver, where he retired from Yellow Freight after 25 years of service.

Mr. Testerman was a member of VFW, American Legion Post 1097, PTSD Support Group, and the Teamsters Union. Also, he was a beloved husband of 34 years, a wonderful father, and grandfather. Mr. Testerman was a great role model for his children, kind hearted, and loved his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Amy Testerman, of the home; children, Tina Testerman Tatum (Kevin) of Blanch, NC and Angie D. Holifield (Steve) of Sutherlin, VA; grandchildren, Jacob Tatum, Jessie, Charlie, Koda, Luke, and Braden Holifield.

In addition to his parents Mr. Testerman was predeceased by his sister, Audrey Gill.

Memorial services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 03, 2016 with Rev. David Hatcher officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of his daughter, Tina Tatum, 325 Kimbro Rd, Blanch, NC.

Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the VFW, 275 VFW Dr., Danville, VA 24541.
