Mr. Romay "Peepaw" Hogan, 96, of 147 Forestdale Dr., passed away on Wednesday August 10, 2016 at Duke University Medical Center after a month of declining health.
Mr. Hogan was born on June 27, 1920 to the late John Samuel Hogan & Emma Wilkerson Hogan. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Frances Moore Hogan, and two brothers, James Monroe Hogan and Woodrow W. Hogan.
Mr. Hogan served in World War II, where he was stationed in Germany and France. He received a Purple Heart and also a honorable discharge. He was a member of VFW Post # 647 and DAV #019,
He was a carpenter by trade and built many homes around the area while working for American Home Construction Company.
Survivors of Mr. Hogan include two sons, Jerome and wife Dreama, and Michael and wife Julie of Danville and one daughter, Frances Ann Hogan Durham and husband Ronnie of Pelham, NC. six grandchildren; Todd Hogan and wife Laura of Chatham, Tony Hogan and wife April of Danville, David Durham and wife Jennifer and Emily Durham of Pelham, NC and Joshua and Natasha Hogan of Danville; and four great grandchildren Lauren Brooke Hogan and Joseph, MeriAnne and Justus Durham of Pelham, NC.
Funeral services for Mr. Hogan will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Todd Hogan and . Joe Durham officiating. Interment will follow in Pelham United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Barker Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 6 – 7:30 P.M. At others times the family will be at 182 Forestdale Drive, Danville.
