Shirley Shelton Blalock, age 78, of 103 Charles Towne Dr. Danville, VA, died on Monday, November 16, 2015 at her residence.

She was born on September 03, 1937, in Pittsylvania County, VA., to the late James Silas Shelton and Daisy Woodson Shelton.

Mrs. Blalock worked as a bookkeeper at ARA for 30 years and was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle. She had three special adopted grandchildren, Natalie Bray, Nye Foster and Nathan Foster all of NJ. In addition, Mrs. Blalock had an adopted great-grandchild, Hunter Bray. Mrs. Blalock graduated from Cobb Memorial High School Ruffin, NC class of 1956.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Blalock of the residence and sister, Mamie Pruitt of Danville, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blalock was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy Shelton Young and Sudie Foster; and brothers, Charlie Shelton, Ryland Shelton, and Jack Shelton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Bray officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
