Shirley Faye Bowles, 80, of Danville, Va., left this earthly life and entered eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. She passed away at Danville Regional Medical Center after a sudden decline in health. Shirley was born on February 24, 1937 in Eden, North Carolina, and lived in Danville and Pittsylvania County the last 65 years of her life. She was the daughter of Marshall Lee Earles and Dora Bell Fain Earles, who both predeceased her. She was also predeceased by two brothers and three sisters and her loving husband, Clayter Lee Bowles of 51 years. She was also predeceased by her wonderful caretaker of 11 years, Dennis Nealy. She was also predeceased by one son, Howard Ray Earles. She is survived by one daughter and three sons, Teresa L. Guthrie and son-in-law, Keith Wayne Guthrie of Roanoke, Va, Gary Wayne Bowles and daughter-in-law, Cherry Mae Bowles of Ringgold, Va, Markel Clay Bowles and life soul mate Paula Hutcherson of Danville, Va, Billy Joe Bowles and friend Stacey, and daughter-in-law, Yvonne Earles of Danville, Va. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and blessed with great grandchildren; loving Nieces – Patricia Fulenwider of Crane Hill Alabama, Vickie Williams of Crane Hill, Alabama; amazing, loving friend, Catherine Berger of Danville, Va. She was a homemaker for most of her life. Shirley enjoyed planting flowers, making crafts and sporting fashion. She was a loving mother, wife, friend and family member. She loved the Lord with all her heart. Though handicapped as a result of a leg amputation several years ago, confined to a wheelchair and with numerous health issues, she always was the one at the nursing home who cheered up others with her warm smile and encouraging words. She loved to dance, sing, play bingo and enjoyed music. Her beautiful smile was a radiant light to an entire room. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. Forever she will be in our hearts and we will miss her dearly. Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in the fact that she is well and lives an eternal life in Heaven with God and Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2pm at Swicegood Funeral Home, 564 W. Main Street, Danville, Va. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 2pm. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to Danville Regional Medical Center for the excellent care they provided her for many years.
