Samuel M. Hodnett

Samuel M. Hodnett, age 82,of Cascade, VA, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, at his residence.

Mr. Hodnett was born on December 18, 1941, in Danville, VA, a son of the late Edward Morrison Hodnett and Dorothy Bane Hodnett.

Mr. Hodnett lived most of his life in Ringgold and Cascade and was the owner and operator of S M Hodnett Construction until his retirement. He was married to JoAnne Soyars Hodnett who survives of the residence. He was a devout Christian and a member of Shady Oak Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Samuel M. Hodnett, Jr and Steve M. Hodnett; daughter, Synthia M. Hodnett; step daughters, Sheila Echols, Tammy Wilson and Kimberly Hudson; brother, Jack Hodnett; sister, Lanna Kent and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Linda Cullop Hodnett; sister, Nancy Eanes and step-son, Ricky Allen Soyars.  

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 2:00 PM in Danville Memorial Gardens with Reverend Kenneth Hammock officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence.
