Alvin “Al” Lloyd Moore, Sr., 81 years old, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his home in Ringgold, VA after a courageous four year battle with cancer.

Alvin was born on March 26, 1936, to Orval and Ida Moore, in Canonsburg, PA, the oldest of six children. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in July of 1957.

He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Kathyrn Sue Flesher Moore; two daughters, Katrina Carr (husband Barry) of Dry Fork, VA, and Sharon Diane Bailey (husband Glenn) of Knightdale, NC;  two grandchildren, Krista Carr Aguilera (husband Adan) of Elkin, NC. and Jeremy Carr of Danville, VA. Also, two sisters, Sally Cox of Wichita, KS , and Judy Moore of Colliers, WV.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Moore was predeceased by a son, Alvin Lloyd Moore, Jr., and three brothers, Harry, Dan, and Bob Moore.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Duke Medical Center, Commonwealth Hospice of Danville, and all of the dear friends and family who have comforted us in our time of need.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 300 Terry Avenue, Danville, VA, conducted by Jim White.  At other times, the family will be at the residence, 213 Clark Street, Ringgold, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York or Commonwealth Hospice of Danville.
