Barbara Jean Scearce Crumpton, 83, of Danville, also known as “Bobby”, “Granny” and “Granny Barbara” went to be with her Lord on Sunday May 7, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was a resident of Roman Eagle Nursing Home where she had been in declining health for four years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Milton Crumpton.
Barbara is survived by her two children, Debra Foust (Steve) and Earl W Crumpton (Sherri); five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Margie Warren, Millie Hague, and Charlene Wann. Barbara loved her family with a deep and devoted love.
Barbara grew up in the Schoolfield section of Danville and lived there most of her adult life. She worked several jobs including the Disston plant. Granny Barbara was a generous and giving person and developed a passion for taking care of both children and the elderly. She was well known for her baking skills and homemade soup and would deliver them around Danville to family and friends. Often, she would take time to witness her strong faith to the lucky recipients while making deliveries.
Barbara was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church which she faithfully attended and served the Lord by supporting the church in many ways. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ and was quick to share that love with everyone. Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2017, officiated by the Reverend Rick Markham. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence of her daughter, 860 Golf Club Road, Danville. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to Roman Eagle Nursing Home North Terrace for the loving care given to mom.
Swicegood Funeral Service is respectfully serving the Crumpton family.
