Betty Marshall Edwards

Mrs. Betty Laurie Marshall Edwards, age 94, went to meet her Lord and savior on Monday, March 25, 2019 at Roman Eagle Health Center in Danville.  Betty was born in Wheeling, W.VA. on February 13, 1925 to the late Harry Hobart Marshall and Minnie Lavadia Patterson McDonnell.  On July 23, 1947, she married Herman L. Edwards, Sr. who predeceased her .  Betty had been a volunteer at Roman Eagle Memorial Home since 1988; she was a member of Dan River Retirement Club, a volunteer at Riverside Health Care Center for three years, and had worked in #4B weave room of Dan River, Inc. for 38 years. 

Survivors include five sons, Herman Lee Edwards, Jr., of Spotsylvania, VA., Kenneth N. Edwards of Lexington, NC, James H. Edwards of Sutherlin, VA, Samuel W. Edwards of Ringgold, VA, and Richard A. McDonnell of Symrna, TN.;  a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren;   In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by two sisters  Magdaliene Marshall Gies and Gloria Scalze,  two brothers, William Harold Marshall, and Edward Marshall, and  one great-granddaughter, Tagan Edwards.

Funeral services for Mrs. Edwards will be held at 2:00 P.M.on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Barker Funeral Home Chapel with  the Rev. James Albert, and the Rev. Kenneth Hammock officiating.  Interment will follow in Danville Memroial Gardens.  The Family will receive friends at Barker Chapel  two hours prior to the service.  At other times, the family will be at the home of James and Sue Edwards, 2900 Ringgold Depot Road, Sutherlin, Va,  24594.
