Bobby “Pete” Williams, age 81, of 268 Park Circle, Danville, VA, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Salem Veterans Hospital, in Salem, VA.
He was born on March 21, 1937, in Danville, VA, to the late Roy Lee Williams and Irma Rigney Williams.
Before his retirement, Mr. Williams worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber for 12 years, as a powerhouse operator, and he attended Community Baptist Church. In addition, he was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Overyby Williams, of the residence; son, Robert “Bob” Wayne Williams and wife, Donna, of Whitler, NC.; grandchildren, Destiny Nicole Crenshaw and Ebony Moore, of Danville, VA, and Stormie Hancock, of Trazewell, VA; great-grandchildren, Kalani Williams, Elijah Crenshaw, Harmonee Moore, Hayden Crenshaw, and Zander Crenshaw; and siblings, Dorothy Callow, of Ft. Wayne, IN and Kenneth Ray Williams, of Danville, VA.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Williams was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Ann Williams; and siblings, Cathleen McKinnon and Bernard Rigney.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. James Albert officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 1097.
