Bradley Blake Durrett, age 26, of Keeling, VA, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 in Danville. Bradley was born in Granite City, Illinios on September 10, 1991 to Jon Durrett and Mary Carter Gilbert who survive him. He is also survived by his step-father, Chuck Gilbert. Bradley took his own life after a long, hard battle with depression, anxiety and addiction. If you need help, ask for it. Can it be scary to take that step? No doubt. But you are not alone. Seek to build others up, not tear them down. In little ways every day, we each can try to make a constructive difference. Avoid drama. It does no good. Use your energy more wisely — there is only so much to go around. Recognize small moments of joy, for they happen all the time. We just have to notice. Be kind, my God, just take a moment to be kind.
In addition to his father, mother and step-father, Bradley is survived by his brothers, Edgar Carter (Elizabeth), and Jerry Ingram. Other survivors include his grandparents, Mabel Carter, Bernice Durrett, and step-grandparents, Carolyn Gilbert, Alvis Gilbert, and Anne Gilbert; one niece, Cora Carter, and a number of uncles and aunts. Bradley was preceeded in death by his grandfathers, Edgar Carter, Eugene Durrett, and his aunt, Kimberly Gilbert.
