Mrs. Charlie Mae Mitchell Earp, age 87, of 141 King St., Danville, VA, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2018 at her daughter’s residence.
Mrs. Earp was born on March 24, 1931, in Stoney Point, North Carolina, to the late Charlie S. Mitchell and Eva Mae Beckham Mitchell. She lived in Danville for 83 years and was married to William Jennings Earp who predeceased her.
Mrs. Earp worked as a machine operator at Dan River Mills for 30 years in the dress room. She had been a member of The Tabernacle since it was the Baptist Tabernacle.
Mrs. Earp is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Earp Tickle of Danville; one grandson; two great-grandsons; three sisters, Margaret Irene Howard of Danville, Audry Smith of Danville, and Mary Rippy of East Point, GA; also, brother, James David Mitchell of Danville.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Earp was predeceased by her brothers, Rayford and Paul Mitchell.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Reverend Joey Bray and the Reverend Danny Campbell officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her daughter, Cynthia Tickle, 196 Orchard Dr., Danville, VA. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
