Christine (Martin) Chilton

Mrs. Christine Martin Chilton, age 96, of Danville, VA, passed away on May 25, 2019 at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Center.

Mrs. Chilton was born on January 23, 1923, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Harry T. Martin and Etta Purdy Martin. She worked at American Tobacco Company for twenty eight years before her retirement. She was a member of Holland Road Baptist Church for 40 years and later joined New Heights Baptist Church in Reidsville, NC.

Mrs. Chilton is survived by three sons, Jimmy Harold Chilton (Jane), Paul T. Chilton (Jean) and Lee Chilton (Carolyn); grandchildren, Karen Martin, Brian Chilton, Randy Chilton, Amanda Rising; great grandchildren, Rebecca Martin, Jacob Lentz, Colby Martin, Justin Lentz, Ashlyn Rising, David Chilton, Price Chilton and Evan Chilton and a sister, Hattie Turner.  

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband George Harold Chilton; grandchildren, Chris Chilton and Stacey Lentz; sisters, Mildred Bowles and Irene Reeves; and brothers, Roy Martin, Arthur Martin and Sanford Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Holland Road Baptist Church with Rev. James Mayes and Rev. Mike Myers officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at the church. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
