Danny Eugene Land

Danny Eugene Land, age 76, of Danville, VA, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Reverend Daryl Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Danny was born in Danville VA, to William Frank Land and Lona Everhardt Land on May 8, 1942. He went to school at George Washington High School. He married Brenda Faye Clack on December 14, 1962 in Reidsville, NC. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 37 years from 1967 until 2004.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Aaron Land, brothers, Lloyd, Nathan, Bill, and Henry Land; sisters, Lula Mae Hodges, Lucille Jackson, Jeanette Hyman and Rosemary Lewis.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; children, Michele Overbey, Danny Land, Jr. and wife Beverly, Brian Keith Land and wife Jennifer, of Abilene, KS; Laura Siegfried and husband, William of Richmond, VA; and Larry Dwayne Land and fiancé Erica Moss; brothers, Cecil Land and wife Lois of Hobe Sound, FL, and Michael Land and wife Tonya of Forest, VA; special sister-in-law, Lena Gillespie; brothers-in-law, Ronald Clack, Junior Hodges, and William Hyman; grandchildren, Chase, Quentin, Jordan (Kari), KaLeigh, and Savannah Land, Ashley Kernodle, Colby, Dylan and Taylor Mein (Josh), and Darian and Cianna Watson; great grandchildren, Cayden, Callie, Adalynn and Aryn Elise Mein, Charley and Amelia Kernodle, Skylar Robinette and baby Willow Land to be born in January.   

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to a cancer society, hospice organization or a favorite charity.

The family of Danny wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Lena Gillespie and Commonwealth Home Nursing and Hospice, especially his caregivers Sandy, Carolyn and Reverend Joyce.
