Mr. Douglas Wayne Harris, age 73, of 1987 Walters Mill Rd., passed away on October 9, 2017 at SOVAH Health.

He was born on February 14, 1944, in Danville, VA, to the late John Clifton Harris and Grace Davis Harris.

Before his retirement, Mr. Harris worked for the Pittsylvania County Sherriff’s Department for 18 years, and previously he attended Providence Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Harris, of the residence; daughter, Lee Ann Zingg and husband James, of Orlando, FL; grandsons, Joseph Zingg and Douglas Zingg.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Harris.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Danville Memorial Gardens with Rev. James Albert officiating.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 p .m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Barker Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 1987 Walters Mill Rd., Providence, NC 27315.
