Earler Custer Adkins, On Saturday, January 6, 2018 our precious loved one went home to be with her Lord and Savior.  Our hearts ache, but we rejoice in knowing she is no longer battling the terrible effects of Alzheimer’s.

Mrs. Adkins was 96 years old, born November 27, 1921 in Pittsylvania County to the late Kelley and Kate Custer.  She retired from Dan River Mills.

She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Claude W. Adkins, one son, Neal Adkins, two grandsons, Joey Burchett and Alan Burchett; 5 sisters and one brother.

She is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Wray (David), of Providence N.C., and Pat Burchett (Joe) of Danville, VA; three granddaughters, Robin Alderson (Mike), Marnie Adkins (Billy), Patty Jo Bradley (Michael); one grandson, Jeff Burchett (Kerri); great grandchildren, Andrew Alderson, Tyler Alderson, Taylor Crowder, Cameron Sowers, Carley Sowers, Joey Burchett, Kyle Burchett; great, great grandchildren, Kaylin Alderson, Jacob Alderson, Sarah Alderson, and Connor Alderson.

She is also survived by three sisters, Louise Pearman, Carolyn Dalton of Danville, Peggy Shivley of Salem Va.; one half brother, Charles Guest of Greensboro NC; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Swicegood Funeral Home at 1:00 PM with the Pastor John Meadows officiating.  Burial will follow at Schoolfield Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:30p.m. to 8:30p.m. on Monday evening at Swicegood Chapel and at other times at the residence of daughter, Jeanette Wray, 4444 Shady Grove Rd., Providence NC.

(We are also comforted in knowing she once again knows who Earler Adkins is.)
