Edith Dillard Yarbrough, 94, died peacefully at Georgian Manor in Chesapeake, VA on December 12, 2019 with family by her side. Edith was born in the Schoolfield area of Danville on May 26, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Lena Dillard Foster and William Alexander Dillard. Edith lived in Danville most of her life and attended Moffitt Baptist Church until moving to Chesapeake, VA. As an adult she worked at Dan River in the Standards Department, John W. Daniels & Company, and Piedmont Mall Executive Offices. She was a proud member of the Dan-Pitts Chapter of the A.B.W.A. (American Business Women’s Association). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Randolph (Randy) Yarbrough, their daughters Janet Yarbrough Lumpkin (Rocky) and Ronda Yarbrough Covington (John). She was also predeceased by her two brothers Henry Dillard and Robert Dixon. She is survived by her grandson Zac Covington, whom she adored, his wife Alexis, and two great-granddaughters, Callie and Cora Covington. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Dillard.
The funeral will be held on Monday December 16, 2019 at Swicegood Funeral Home, 564 West Main Street in Danville. A visitation begins at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.
