Eugene Holder

Mr. Eugene Oliver Holder, age 91, of Danville, VA, died on January 9, 2019 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Reidsville, NC.

Mr. Holder was born on August 22, 1927, in Danville, VA, to the late Raymond Lee Holder and Alma Cook Holder. He served as a Senior Captain and Federal Pilot with Seafarers International Transport. Mr. Holder served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he served as the head sound technician until 2016; and a member of the American Legion in Rocky Mt. VA.

Mr. Holder is survived by his daughter, Patricia H. Marlowe; grandchildren, Kimberly Cerwonka (Nate), Haley Marlowe, Dede Turner, Andrea Shoemaker (Jason), Dana Gregor (Tim), Yvette Scott (Don); great-grandchildren, Jessica Smith (Isaac), Joey Gregor, Lauren Schools, Avery, Ian, and Hillary Montgomery; son-in-law, Donald Schools and a sister, Alice Holder Williams.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Harris Holder; daughter, Vicki Holder Schools; son, Anthony Eugene Holder; and brothers, David Holder and Raymond Lee Holder, II.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Baptist Church with the Reverend Brad Childres officiating. Visitation will follow the service.

Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy and the American Legion Post 1097.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice.
