Eugene Allen Moran, age 81, of 237 Lansbury Drive, Danville, Va., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at the Hock Family Pavilion, in Durham, N.C.
He was born on February 21, 1936, in Danville, Va., a son of the late Rev. Leonard and Lethena Moran. He enjoyed playing golf with friends, taking trips to the beach and mountains with his family, and dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Moran was married to Alma Brooks Moran, who survives. He worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 25 years as a supervisor and was a member of Pocahontas Tribe Council 124.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Dennis Moran (Wendy), Alan Moran (Susan), and Michelle Chandler (Mark); grandchildren, Melissa Morris (Josh), Tim Chandler, Beth Chandler, and Nick Moran; great-grandchild, Josh Morris and Serenity Morris; and brothers, Morris Moran, Douglas Moran (Jeanie), Billy Moran (Linda), and Gerald Moran (Carolyn).
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Otis Moran and Norman Moran; and sister, Enda Iris Moran.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 11 a.m. at River Oak Church of God with the Reverend Jackie Poe, the Reverend Marcus Heffinger and the Reverend Mike Hearp officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, February 16, 2018, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. at the Riveroak Church of God and at other times the family will be at the residence, 237 Lansbury Drive, Danville, VA, 24541. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the hospice hospital in Durham, N.C., for being so nice and kind to him.
