Frederick Wade Scearce, age 85, of 165 Martin Ave. Danville, VA, died on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Danville Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Scearce was born on March 6, 1932 in Danville, VA, a son of the late Forest Scearce and Ruby Cline Scearce. He was employed with American Tobacco Company where he worked as a sales representative. Mr. Scearce was married to June Barbour Scearce who preceded him in death. He was a member of Brush Arbor Baptist Church.

Mr. Scearce is survived by two daughters, Gina Scearce, and Pamela Murphy; two grandchildren, Sonya Wingate (Stephen) and John R. Murphy III; two great grandchildren, Isaiah Wingate, and Noah Wingate; and two brothers, Billy Scearce and Basil Scearce. He is also survived by his special friend, Cleta Cox.

In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by three brothers, Forest L. Scearce, Thomas Scearce, and Dennis Scearce.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Swicegood Funeral Home with the Reverend Billy Scearce officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday August 9, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home and at other times the family will be at the residence. Interment will follow the service in Danville Memorial Gardens.
