Gertrude Merchant

Mrs. Gertrude Merchant, age 97, of Danville, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Roman Eagle Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Merchant was born on September 5, 1922, in Hibbing, MN, a daughter of the late, Ernest Strohschein and Louise Bobrowski Strohschein. Before her retirement she was employed with Danville Public Library as a librarian and was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Merchant is survived by her loving children, Martin Merchant, Jo Merchant, Jessica Merchant, and Jeff Merchant; grandchildren, Alice Merchant, Jesse Merchant, Cory Merchant, Jonathan Merchant, and Jordan Merchant; great grandchildren, Christopher Merchant, Evelyn Merchant, Emma Merchant and Adelaide Merchant and a sister, Betty Smith. 

Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Pastor Norbert Folwaczny officiating. Interment will follow at later date at Redwood Falls Cemetery in Redwood Falls, MN.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1172 Franklin Tpke, Danville, VA, 24540.
