Helen Marie (Hedrick) Gatley

Helen Marie Hedrick Gatley, age 86, of Danville, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Roman Eagle Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Gatley was born on May 3, 1933 in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Ralph Hedrick and Nannie Kate Matherly Hedrick. Mrs. Gatley was married to Morris Fredrick Gatley who preceded her in death; she traveled with her husband while he served in military to many states and foreign countries before moving back to Danville in 1982. She attended Central Blvd. Church of God.

Mrs. Gatley is survived by her brother Rev. Billy Hedrick (Kathy) of Danville, VA; a nephew, Timmy Thaxton (Cathy) of Laurel, MD, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Gatley is predeceased by two brothers, James Hedrick and Hampton Hedrick; and two sisters, Mary Hedrick Thaxton and Lena Hedrick Campbell.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 4 PM in Danville Memorial Gardens with Rev. Billy Hedrick and Rev. John Meadows officiating. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at Swicegood Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Central Blvd. Church of God, 235 Hairston St. Danville, VA, 24540.
