Mr. Homer Lindsey Gauldin Sr., age 90, of 6816 Mt. Cross Rd, Danville Va., passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at his residence.

Mr. Gauldin was born on June 17, 1927, in Pittsylvania Co.,Va, to the late George “Boss” Clay Gauldin and Emily Hall Gauldin.

Before his retirement, Mr. Gauldin worked at Lowes Home Improvement and was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, where he served as head usher, Sunday School Superintendent, President of Adult Sunday School class, active member of St. John’s United Methodist Fisherman’s Club, and he served on the grounds committee. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Mr. Gauldin is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Edith Blair Gauldin; children: Deborah Brumfield (Bobby), of Gretna, Va.; Teresa Baise (Mark), of Pelham, N.C.; Homer Gauldin Jr. (Kathy) of Danville Va.; Linda Austin (Michael), of Danville Va.; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents Mr. Gauldin was predeceased by his siblings; Wade Gauldin, Ernest Gauldin, Florence Amos, Willard Gauldin, and Oakley Gauldin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 4, 2017 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Brumfield and Rev. Wayne Moore officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 6816 Mt. Cross Rd., Danville Va.

Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1452 Stony Mill Rd, Danville, VA 24540.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Sue, Danielle, and Nicole, of Legacy Hospice, for the special care Mr. Gauldin received during his illness.
